Andrea Buglisi is a Sicilian painter born in Palermo in 1974. He graduated in Decoration at the Academy of Fine Arts in 1998 with a thesis on Street Art. Since 2005 he has taught Painting Disciplines at the Liceo Artistico E. Catalano in Palermo. Actively involved in urban regeneration projects, he describes his research thus: “A kind of visual trap. I tend to attract the observer with captivating images in terms of color and composition that wink at design and advertising. At a deeper level of reading, however, we see something restless which, through the privileged track of irony, conveys a critical message towards society with its conventions and collective neuroses.”

The mural portrays Ann Miller, an actress and professional dancer nominated for an Oscar in 1938 as supporting actress in the role of Essie Carmichael, a funny and slightly ditzy waitress in Frank Capra’s “Eternal Illusion”. A series of events make this comedy irresistible. The happy ending will confirm that the only happiness consists in always following your heart and that it is an eternal illusion to believe that other happiness exists outside of love. Andrea Buglisi’s work maintains a perfect balance between lightness and intensity, between realism and imagination, a harmony concretized in a plastic yet jaunty pose, which acts as a vector for a dialogue of glances between the protagonist of the mural and the raven Jimmy, a trained raven that appears in many Frank Capra films.
