“iART NOma – Places and stories NOmafia” is an immersive and permanent work which, through the voices of characters such as Pif, Ficarra and Picone, Teresa Mannino and Pippo Baudo, brings to mind the tragic stories of those who sacrificed their lives for oppose organized crime. Wanted by the cultural association “Sulle Nostre Gambe” and “iWorld ETS” within the “iART FIVAS” project, the commemorative installation was made possible thanks to Plesh, the first Italian company specialized in the development of apps and software in interactive events sector. The permanent work represents an added value for the narrative universe of the “NOma – Places and stories NOmafia”, originally developed on the nodal points of the Palermo area: it is in fact the immersive realization of the App inside a large dark room. The installation presents 22 reconstructions of the murder, 22 biographies, 22 stories from family members and 3 stories from survivors. Upon accessing it, you are surrounded by three large interactive walls onto which the faces, places and events of mafia stories are projected, selected through a 32-inch touch screen by visitors who can thus interact directly with the work. The testimonies are told by narrative voices of well-known names: Giuseppe Fiorello, Pif, Ficarra and Picone, Pippo Baudo, Teresa Mannino, Nino Frassica, Francesco Scianna, Leo Gullotta, Isabella Ragonese, Giuseppe Tornatore, Paolo Briguglia, Luigi Lo Cascio and Donatella Finocchiaro. Inside what was the headquarters of the cooperative founded by Verro, Plesh and NOma have also created a museum room dedicated to the “Picciriddi”. Exhibited here is both a work in their memory signed by the artist Domenico Pellegrino, and a gallery of 18 original illustrations created by the artist Martina Ponente and accompanied by the texts of the journalist Bruno Palermo – taken from his book “Al Posto Sbagliato” ed. Rubbettino – which tell the stories of children killed by the mafia.
