iArt, the echo of the identity of a territory
the iArt project is nearing completion with an enviable catalog of open-air works that have managed to fit in with elegance and personality into the urban fabric of the eight municipalities involved, without distorting their historical identity.
Bisacquino Campofiorito, Corleone, Chiusa Sclafani, Mezzojuso, Palazzo Adriano, Prizzi and Roccamena have seen their urban scenarios enriched with interventions carefully designed to support the cultural identity of the area through the creativity of 30 famous artists.
A tribute to agricultural culture
The work of Jennifer Erny “il Raccolto” represents the importance of the traditional wheat cycle in Sicily by reinterpreting agricultural activities through the style and colors of Italian cinema between the 60s and 70s.
Ciliegia Paradiso
David Alonso Suarez‘s work in Chiusa Sclafani is a tribute to the values of local production which combine both the figure of Totò Cascio, the famous child protagonist of the cult film “Nuovo Cinema Paradiso” and the renowned production of cherries typical of the area.
A dialogue with nature
The work of the Medianeras duo in Campofiorito is a game of glances and interpretation that crosses the urban fabric, to highlight the relationship between agriculture and the identity of the territory. Also inspired by the film The Golden Parable.
Byzantine icon
An atypical work for Rame13, which in this case meet the strong sacral identity of Mezzojuso, famous for its renowned collection of sacred icons.
Trubute to Gabriele Buccola
Jarus‘ work in Mezzojuso celebrates an important figure in the panorama of Italian scientific psychology, Gabriele Buccola.
“Acchiana u patri cu tutti i so figghi”
In Roccamena Seba Mat depicts, on the wall of a school, a type of group game that children used to play: “Acchiana u patri cu tutti i so figghi”, whose literal meaning is “the father goes up with all his children” .
Silence
A tribute to the immortal icon of the great master Ennio Morricone, created by TVboy at Palazzo Adriano. Morricone was the author of some of the most beautiful soundtracks in the history of cinema, including that of the unforgettable Nuovo Cinema Paradiso.

The one created by Mandi Oh in Corleone is a tribute to the Sicilian origins of Al Pacino’s grandmother. An ancient and turbulent bond between the great Hollywood actor and his family’s country of origin, made up of returns and misunderstandings and still awaiting a definitive reconciliation.
The Madonna of functions
The work of the La180 collective in Roccamenta reconciles the sacred and profane feel of the ancient depictions of the local Madonna, an icon with a vaguely oriental taste and style, which draws its meaning from pre-Christian divinities linked to the cult of the earth and to the precious gift of grain
The symbolism of the cycle of life
Alva Moca’s work in Roccamena is a complex puzzle rich in archaic symbolism which iconically represents the bond between women and nature, the cult of mother earth to which these places are intrinsically linked.
Alfredo
Once again the indelible story of Nuovo Cinema Paradiso is the protagonist at Palazzo Adriano, remembered here with a touching portrait of the protagonist Alfredo, born from the brush of Hendrik Beikirch
Placido
A tribute born from the creativity of LOSTE to the figure of Placido Rizzotto, taken from Scimone’s film dedicated to him. Italian trade unionist and politician, belonging to socialist maximalism, Placido Rizzotto was kidnapped and killed by Cosa Nostra.
Games of the past
in Prizzi, on the wall of a school, Mr Thoms’ work celebrates the tradition of games of the past in a lively and playful way.
The wheat harvest
In Roccamena Loste depicts, through a man who harvests wheat, the agricultural traditions of the territory which owes its expansion above all to this type of ancient crafts
“The eternal illusion”
Andrea Buglisi’s work in Bisacquino depicts a young Ann Miller, an actress and dancer nominated for an Oscar for the role of Essie Carmichael, a funny and slightly ditzy waitress in Frank Capra’s “Eternal Illusion”
“Demeter, goddess of agriculture, wheat and its history”
a further tribute to mother earth and its fruits, developed by Milu Correch in Corleone, which once again highlights the profound link between the territory of the Sosio valley and work in the fields.
IART FIVAS has demonstrated in its implementation the importance of the reinterpretation of tradition as an indispensable tool for its own perpetuation. One cannot imagine allowing an ancestral message to survive without worrying about translating it into a contemporary language, without renewing its splendor with ever new colours, languages and tools.The tradition is not in the form, but in the substance and for preserve the value, it is sometimes necessary to adapt the message.
