Danilo Pistone, known as Neve, is an Italian artist born in 1986. In 2008 he graduated from the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan. From the union of different techniques and artistic languages he creates a union between urban art and aesthetic classicism with the use of the figurative on a black background, Caravaggio style, which allows him to enhance the light and chromaticism of the image. His personal technique has given life to a recognizable expressive style, with which he represents his investigation into history, myth and human experience, creating narratives that transcend cultures and time. Collaboration with various brands for advertising campaigns and exhibitions at prestigious galleries consolidate its presence in the international artistic panorama.
“The Call”
The religious and cultural traditions of Palazzo Adriano have always been known, but since 1988 it has become the home of Nuovo Cinema Paradiso. The beauty of this site has conquered the world. And today, those murals that recall the scenes of the film have become a sort of second act of a work whose source of inspiration is Tornatore’s film. The artist Neve (Danilo Pistone) depicts Salvatore’s mother who, having given him the news of Alfredo’s death, awaits his return. She is Totò’s mother but symbolically she is the mother of every emigrant, far from home, a mother who actively waits, who cultivates this emotion daily, who fuels homesickness. Bright lemons in the foreground are reminiscent of her native land, her very intense eyes tell of the painful and infinite wait. The scene is both a symbol of the home that awaits and of belonging, the figure of a mother looking at the return of her children represents the indissoluble and universal bond that each of us has with our native land. Invaded by an emotional appeal, by a sense of belonging, we experience the certainty that, despite distance and time, cultural and family roots remain a safe and welcoming refuge.
