Mikhail Albano was born in Russia, at the age of five, he was adopted by a Sicilian family and moved to Leonforte with his adoptive parents. The personal and professional experiences gained over the course of life lead the artist to prefer a realist pictorial style with an obsessive attention to details and details in order to represent, through his own artistic flair, the art of beauty. He is defined as an “elephant artist”, he loves to paint this animal because each wrinkle of their skin represents a journey experienced in his real life. Another important aspect in his works is the gaze, the eye is the reflection of the soul, the eye says everything, the artist always focuses on the gaze to create emotion.
"Ballo dei Diavoli"
The mural is a tribute to the Ballo dei Diavoli of Prizzi, a celebration of medieval origins. It’s Easter morning. The day of the Resurrection. The inhabitants of Prizzi wake up ready to celebrate the return of light after the long night of Good Friday. Throughout the morning the Devils dressed in red and with horned masks wander around the town chasing passers-by, but the dance is governed by Death, armed and dressed in yellow, with his disturbing mask he moves menacingly and frenetically, while the devils they accompany her by waving ringing instruments. But it is in the afternoon hours that the devils’ dance reaches its greatest frenzy: they want to prevent the meeting (for the Prizzese “u scontru”, the clash) between the Virgin and the risen Son. Mikhail Albano’s work places the risen Christ in the foreground and identifies him with the Tree of Life. He is the one who will always prevail in the end. But the devils and Death, undaunted, will try to hinder him again every year, in this infinite tradition.
