LOSTE
FROM
Palermo, Sicily
Mirko Cavallotto, aka Loste, is a Sicilian artist born in Caltanissetta. In 2012 he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo. Daily practice and the constant search for detail become an absolute priority in his artistic career, in order to dissect and perfect the figurative style through spray. The subjects portrayed are always represented with great precision in detail without ever neglecting the poetic side inherent in their painting. With over 15 years of experience in the street art sector, he boasts collaborations with the most important artists in the sector and international brands. He currently creates murals for companies and public bodies. His latest collaborations concern Oper Fiber, Fineco Bank, Samsung, the Italian Magistrates Association, Enel and Giro d’Italia.
“Placido"
Portrait inspired by Placido Rizzotto, played by Marcello Mazzarella, in Pasquale Scimeca’s film dedicated to him. Staunch defender of workers’ rights, trade union fighter in the land of Corleone, one of the first heroes in the great history of Sicilian martyrs, kidnapped and killed by the mafia. His passion, his ethical fire have radically changed the history of this beautiful country, his struggles in defense of the laborers and against the local powerful have opened the roads to freedom. In the mural created by Loste, we see him as a proud fighter, a “comrade” of the past, painted next to the entrance to the C.I.D.M.A. the cultural center that collects all the precious information and documents on the history of the Anti-Mafia. His big eyes seem to tell us: I am with you, in everyday life. No sacrifice happens in vain and by chance. Today everything can return to normal, continue to live without fear.
