Angelo Genova (CrazyOne) comes from the Sicilian city of Caltanissetta. Graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo, he immediately managed to stand out by breaking the mold and prerogatives of street art. In fact, he contrasted speed and improvisation with a meticulous technique developed through the use of “stencils”. : the figure is broken down with hatchings, dots or signs, to then be reconstructed in the overall vision. The meticulousness of the working process allows his works to be summarized in the particular and personal technique. CrazyOne’s painting is explicitly inspired by real images, the artist investigates the reality that surrounds him, the places and people of his experience which from the “reality of the street” are transferred, with photorealistic effects, into the street art stencil technique.
"It happened one night"
A capricious heiress runs away from home when her father forbids her to marry a handsome man. She escapes the detectives’ search, but not a shabby journalist who catches her with the intention of making a journalistic coup. Of course, during the bus trip across America there will be the opportunity for mutual falling in love. But the long-awaited meeting never comes because both, forced to sleep in the same bed, separate the spaces with a wall of towels, called by the protagonists “The walls of Jericho”. The work is one of the cornerstones of American cinematographic comedy, and CrazyOne’s mural captures the protagonists in the moment of revealing their love. The stencil technique makes the work even more fascinating: seen up close it seems like an abstract composition, seen from afar it offers a surprising overall picture. As happens in life: if we manage to find the right distance from reality, the whole of life will be able to manifest itself in its entirety.
